Welcome to our federation

Expectation, Aspiration and Respect for All

Welcome to the website for North Petherwin and Werrington Primary Schools. We are two federated schools under one website. While maintaining individuality, the schools work closely together - we share a governing body, a head teacher and all the things that make us great.  We set high expectations and aspirations and promote respect for all.

We have a small but dedicated team of teachers and teaching assistants and around 120 pupils across both schools. We have two well-established nurseries which open three days a week.

The schools are situated in North Cornwall - just a few miles from the town of Launceston. We  have been federated since April 2012 and recently became part of An Daras Multi Academy Trust. The Trust's curriculum pedagogy allows us to achieve capability mature children who are positively engaged, compassionate, competent young people conscious of the role they play in society, who are curious about the world around them and their place in it.

At Werrington and North Petherwin, we promote a family atmosphere -  pupils of mixed ages learn and play together.  Visitors often remark on the warm welcome they get from pupils and staff.

Alongside the national curriculum we teach a Capabilities Curriculum that teaches seven capabilities which improve children's learning, nurtures the development of the whole child and prepares them for the future. Those capabilities include: Managing feelings, Resilience and Determination, Creativity, Planning and Problem Solving, Communication, Confidence and Agency and Relationship and Leadership.

We encourage children to take responsibilities, make decisions and to think for themselves. Everyone works together showing care and respect for others. We prepare the pupils for  the next stage of their learning within a happy, secure and stimulating environment where having fun while learning is a priority.
