Hello and a very warm welcome from Class One!
In the mornings, our class is made up of our Nursery and Reception children. In the afternoons, we are joined by the Year 1 and Year 2 children, giving us opportunities to learn and work together across the age groups while still maintaining dedicated spaces and provision for our youngest children.
Our teacher is Mrs Becky Johns and we are supported by a fantastic team of staff who work across the week: Miss Kathryn Humphries, Mrs Claire Griffin, Mrs Olivia Rail, Mrs Michelle Nobbs (Fridays), Mrs Gaby Hunt and Miss Dana Selwyn.
We are very lucky to have two separate classroom spaces, as well as our outdoor areas. This gives us lots of flexibility throughout the day, enabling children to come together for shared learning and experiences, while also allowing us to separate into smaller groups and use different spaces when appropriate.
We provide a balance of playful, child-initiated learning and carefully planned adult-led experiences, giving children opportunities to explore, practise and deepen their knowledge and skills. Across school, we support our children to become curious, independent, resilient, collaborative and reflective learners through our five key learning dispositions. Children are encouraged to ask questions, share ideas, persevere when things are challenging and see mistakes as opportunities to learn.
We believe that learning extends beyond our classrooms. Children make full use of our school grounds and outdoor environment, as well as our local community of North Petherwin, Launceston and beyond. We strive to provide meaningful experiences that help children connect their learning with the world around them and develop a strong sense of belonging within their school and wider community.
We have thought carefully about the knowledge, skills and experiences we want our children to develop throughout Nursery and Reception. Our curriculum is enriched by high-quality stories and texts, seasonal changes, celebrations, events and the children's own interests and experiences.
We provide a balance of carefully planned adult-led learning and opportunities for children to explore, practise and apply their learning through play and our continuous provision. Our learning environment evolves in response to the curriculum and to the children, helping us to build on their curiosity and provide purposeful, memorable learning experiences.
You can find out more about what children will learn throughout Nursery and Reception by viewing our Long-Term Curriculum Plans, Learning Aspirations and Skills and Knowledge Organisers below.

We use Class Dojo as our main communication platform between school and home. We use it for private messages, class and whole-school updates, and to share some of the children's learning and experiences.
Parents will receive an invitation by email to join their child's class once they are enrolled at our school.
