Rolling Program

Our Rolling Program is tailored for mixed age classes.

Our three-year Rolling Program (below) shows the topics covered each year ( A, B and C ) in Class 2 and Class 3 at North Petherwin and Werrington. The Rolling Program reflects our class structure with Year 1, 2 and 3 taught together as Class 2 and Year 4, 5 and 6 taught in Class 3. We have an EYFS unit with Nursery and Reception taught in Class 1.

PE, RE, PHSE and Computing are taught around a two-year-program with pupils taught together thus: Year 1 & 2,  Year 3 & 4 and Year 5 & 6.

The Curriculum section of our website shows the knowledge, skills and progression for each subject.

Our termly topics are set through History and Geography and are taught through concepts. The historical concepts include significance, similarity and difference, continuity and change and cause and consequence. The topics are taught using an historical enquiry with pupils using sources of evidence.
The geographical concepts include place, space, scale, environment, interconnections and physical evidence taught through a geographical enquiry.

We teach the children to be healthy and encourage outdoor learning through activities including Healthy Hearts, Healthy Minds, Wild Tribe, Wild Tribe Frist Aid and our Alternative Sports Day. Our older children are taught how to be leaders through our Maths leaders program and we also all enjoy a day at the beach!
